Not only will your donation serve as a special tribute to your loved one's memory, but it will also help bring hope and healing to needy kids.

It is never easy to lose a loved one, but one way to honor their legacy is through a memorial donation to Mercy Home for Boys & Girls.

We have been providing support for abused and neglected children since 1887. Because Mercy Home is 100% privately funded, we depend on donors like you to help us continue our mission.

When kids come to us, we make sure that their basic needs are met, as well as provide therapy and academic help. Once our children’s needs are met, they are able to thrive and look forward to a bright future.

What’s the difference between a memorial and in honor of gifts?
A memorial gift is a thoughtful way to remember a loved one who has passed away by making a gift in his/her memory. An honor gift is a unique way to celebrate a special occasion or recognize someone dear to you who is living. away.

How do I make a memorial or in honor of donation to Mercy Home?
You can donate online using this donation form, call us toll-free at (877)637-2955, or you can mail the donation. Please include the person’s name that the gift is in memory/honor of.

Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes, Mercy Home for Boys & Girls is a 501(c)(3) organization, and all monetary donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by tax laws. Our EIN number is 36-2171726.

Will the family of the deceased receive a letter notifying them of my donation?
We will notify the family or individual of your thoughtfulness unless you wish to remain anonymous. Your name will be included on a list that is sent to the deceased’s love ones notifying them of donations but your donation amount will not be listed unless the family specifically requests it. You may also request a card to be sent. Please provide their name and address as well as the deceased’s name. Sometimes we acquire their contact information but it’s always best to send it if you have that information and please list their relation to the deceased.

You may enter this information online by checking the box on the donation page “Give in honor of a loved one” and indication if it’s a memorial or in honor of donation.

What is Mercy Home for Boys & Girls?
Since 1887, Mercy Home for Boys & Girls has provided a place of refuge for at-risk kids. Through our residential, community care, and community-based mentoring programs, Mercy Home provides healing, guidance, and opportunity to many kids who have suffered trauma.

Young people come to Mercy Home in search of a safe harbor from environments filled with abuse, neglect, abandonment, violence, poverty, and other serious challenges. Mercy Home gives children like these stable, structured nurturing care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our expert childcare staff offers a deep range of positively impacting, life-changing resources for our children. The therapeutic, academic, spiritual, and vocational support provided by our professionals enables our children to heal from the traumas of their pasts, prepare for their futures, and grow into self-reliant and successful adults. Former residents have access to support and we also provide community-based mentoring for children throughout the Chicagoland area.
